West Maui Project With Affordable Housing Component

The Pulelehua project was announced in 2022.  It is to be located between the West Maui Kapalua Airport, and HonoapiĘ»ilani Highway.  An affordable housing component is to be included in this project named Mahina Hills with buyers selected by lottery.  100 units will be subsidized with Maui government funds. Additional market-priced homes are to be included.  According to information in a Mauinow article (and in a second Mauinow article), down payment assistance will be offered for 100 townhomes in Phase 1A  Phase 1B will include 140 multifamily rental units with studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units.  Apparently the lottery selection process will include length of time as a Maui resident.  Read the article for more information.  References:  Maui County Bill 152, Bill 107, Paul Cheng.
